The painting shown above was recently purchased for a staggering £3,600 at an auction to raise funds for St David's Primary School,Colwinston, Vale of Glamorgan.

Sue was asked by friend Liz Brown, at very short notice if she could produce a painting of the school from which prints could be sold as a fundraiser, to be displayed at their Summer Ball held at St Donats, Atlantic College.  She agreed with reservations about the timescale, and the fact that St David's is not an architecturally 'pretty' school.   However, with Sports Day making a timely appearance, and blessed by the weather, sketches and photographs made on the day provided the inspiration for this pastel, measuring approximately 26inches x 20inches.

Limited Edition Prints were produced and it was agreed that the painting would be offered for auction, although the headmaster anguished over keeping the painting for the school or selling it.  He is said to be delighted by the outcome!

The most amazing part of the story is that the purchaser is none other than Mr Tim Owen, the surgeon who replaced Sue's hip in Nov 04, without which none of this would have been possible.
